Chef, food writer, TV star, Home Cooking co-host and alumsionist Samin Nosrat has a new cookbook called Good Things coming out, and I'll be moderating an event where she talks about it! Tickets are on sale HERE.
Here’s the list of her tour stops in the US and a couple in Canada, mid-September to late October.
Nerd Nite is a really fun night of factual entertainment. This one includes people talking about sea otters, Coast Salish art, and the surprising Icelandic translation version of the novel Dracula (the latter topic will be me talking). Tickets are on sale now.
Pallusionists, assemble! We’re going to hang out at the beach, from 6pm until sunset. Bring snacks and beverages, and whatever equipment you might like for swimming/paddling/beach-sitting.
It’s a free event and all are welcome, but sign up at the Eventbrite just so if there are any event updates, you’ll hear about them.
Location: Spanish Banks beach, between the East Concession and the volleyball courts - here’s a map pin of the area I’ll aim for, and I’ll cobble together an Allusionist flag or such so we’re easy to find.
This part of the beach has shallow gentle water, so it can be quite warm and very pleasant to go in. Paid parking ($1.50/hour) and bike racks are close, as are washrooms and changing rooms. The terrain from the parking to this part of beach is flat and firm and there are some paths.

Martin and I made a version of our stage show Souvenirs for BBC Radio 4, and it will be broadcast on 22 July at 4pm UK time. Tune in on your wireless or the internet, to hear the story of a friendship falling apart over a typeface. There’s also a live rerun at 00:15 BST Monday 28 July (check your timezone) - here’s the link for listening live. It’ll also be available online via the BBC website and BBC Sounds, for a bit of time after. UPDATE: it’s currently not available outside of the UK, so for now, people outside of the UK can hear it here.
